Stooges: Scott Asheton est mort

Scott Asheton est décédé dimanche matin.

C'est via un communiqué posté par Iggy Pop sur Facebook que nous avons appris hier soir la mort du batteur originel des Stooges.

A l'origine de la formation du groupe en 1967 avec son frère (Ron-décédé en 2009), Dave Alexander et Iggy Pop, Scott Asheton avait été victime d'un AVC en 2011. On le retrouvera quand même sur le dernier enregistrement du groupe "Ready to Die" sorti en 2013.

Scott Asheton avait 64 ans.

Voici le communiqué:

"My dear friend Scott Asheton passed away last night.

Scott was a great artist, I have never heard anyone play the drums with more meaning than Scott Asheton. He was like my brother. He and Ron have left a huge legacy to the world. The Asheton's have always been and continue to be a second family to me.

My thoughts are with his sister Kathy, his wife Liz and his daughter Leanna, who was the light of his life.
